Pimcore 2026.1: Studio becomes default, Admin Classic removed

March 1, 20266 min read

Pimcore 2026.1 marks a turning point in the platform's evolution. After a transition period where Admin Classic and Studio functioned side by side, Studio is now the exclusive interface for all Pimcore operations. At the same time, support for Symfony 6.x ends. These changes require preparation but also offer significant long-term benefits.

Pimcore Studio becomes the gold standard

From 2026.1 onwards, Pimcore Studio is the only supported interface for content, product and data management. The new Studio UI has been completely rewritten with modern web technologies and offers a significantly improved user experience. The interface is faster, more intuitive and better suited for today's complex workflows. All datatypes - Data Objects, Assets and Documents - are now fully available in Studio, providing a unified work experience for all users.

Farewell to Admin Classic

With the release of 2026.1, Admin UI Classic is completely removed from the codebase. Organizations still dependent on Admin Classic must migrate to Studio before this release. The parallel support in 2025.4 LTS provided time for this transition, but now the moment has arrived. The positive news: most workflows translate directly to Studio, and many users experience the new interface as an improvement after a short adjustment period.

Symfony 7 becomes mandatory

Support for all Symfony 6.x components is removed in Platform Version 2026.1. This means migration to Symfony 7 is a requirement for the upgrade. Symfony 7 brings significant improvements in performance, security and developer experience. The phased approach Pimcore used - with optional Symfony 7 support in earlier releases - has given partners time to prepare their code.

Preparing for the transition

For organizations still running on 2025.x, now is the time to plan the migration. Evaluate your custom code for Symfony 6 dependencies, train your team in Pimcore Studio and test extensively in a staging environment. The investment in this transition pays off in a more modern, faster and more maintainable platform. Do you need support with this migration?
