Pimcore 2025.3: Documents in Studio and TinyMCE 7
In October 2025, Pimcore released version 2025.3 with a strong focus on editorial comfort, AI flexibility and day-to-day performance. The key milestone is that for the first time all core Pimcore datatypes - data objects, assets and documents - are available in the new Pimcore Studio interface. This marks an important step in Pimcore's evolution toward a unified, modern content management experience.
Documents in Pimcore Studio
Until now, only Data Objects and Assets were accessible via Pimcore Studio. With version 2025.3, Documents - albeit still in preview - are supported for the first time. This means content managers can now choose to do all their work in one consistent interface. The new Documents experience in Studio offers improved preview capabilities, faster navigation and a more intuitive structure. Although still in preview phase, this is a clear signal toward a future where Studio is the only interface.
TinyMCE 7 returns
A welcome addition for content editors is the return of TinyMCE as a WYSIWYG editor, now in version 7. TinyMCE offers a familiar editing flow that many users know from other systems. The enterprise-grade stability and easy update capabilities make it a reliable choice for organizations that produce a lot of content. The integration with Pimcore's asset management ensures that inserting images and media is seamless.
OpenAI-compatible Copilot
The AI Copilot in Pimcore is now OpenAI-compatible, meaning organizations are no longer tied to a single AI provider. You can choose OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or other compatible providers based on your own criteria around cost, privacy or performance. This flexibility reduces vendor lock-in and gives more control over how AI is used within your PIM workflows. The Copilot can help generate product descriptions, translate content and suggest metadata.
Performance improvements
Besides the feature updates, Pimcore 2025.3 has significant performance improvements under the hood. The GDI (Generic Data Index) coverage has been expanded, resulting in faster searches and more efficient data retrieval. Runtime performance has been optimized, especially noticeable with large datasets and complex data structures. For organizations with extensive product catalogs or large asset libraries, this means a more responsive daily experience. Are you considering an upgrade or new Pimcore implementation?
